We only supply and recommend the use of branded CFL (Compact Fluorescent Lamp), and these lamps are manufactured by: Philips Master PL-T 4 Pin, Sylvania Lynx TE, GE Biax TE, Radium Ralux TE, Osram Dulux TE, with each one being comparable, compatible and replaceable by the other.
The CFL TE 4 Pin Compact Fluorescent Lamps are low energy lamps and use about 75% less electricity than ordinary incandescent light bulbs, and at the same time continue to give a similar level of light. Another advantage with a CFL is that apart from reducing your power costs they last as much as ten times longer than ordinary incandescent lamps, which in turn will save a considerable amount of time because it will lead to a reduction in the frequency that lamps will need to be changed.
The CFL is comparable with a fluorescent tube because they work on exactly the same principle, the main advantage being that the compact size of the CFL makes it ideal for use in a much wider range of luminaires, especially where space is an issue. The CFL TE 4 Pin Compact Fluorescent Lamps can be dimmed with the use of appropriate control gear. They are often used for internal and external security and amenity lighting systems or general purpose use illuminating office space, corridors and stairways in car parks, sports centres, office blocks, industrial units and many other kinds of property.
The reduction of CO2 emissions is a major issue today, and because the CFL has a very low light depreciation and mercury content with extra long life, environmentally it is a first class choice.
Eventually the CFL TE 4 Pin Compact Fluorescent Lamps will need to be changed, and must always be replaced with the same wattage lamp as the one removed, or else it may lead to damage being caused to the control gear within the luminaire. The lamps are available in three shades of white and their details can be found on the "more details" pages. If the lamps you are using do not give enough light it may be worth changing to a brighter colour, the 840 Cool White is the brightest lamp in this range, so you are able to attain more light with the same wattage. If you decide to change to another lamp shade of white it is advisable to change all the lamps in a given area otherwise the mixing of whites will become instantly noticed. The approximate life span of CFL TE lamps is 10,000 hours.
